David Luke’s managing director, Kathryn Shuttleworth, was among female business leaders recognised at the Forward Ladies Women in Business Awards 2015 on Friday 27 March at the Midland Hotel, Manchester.
Sponsored overall by HSBC, the awards celebrated the achievements of professional businesswomen in the North West and Isle of Man. Winners were announced from 10 categories, including the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Businesswomen of the Year Award, which was accepted by Shuttleworth. Sponsored by United Utilities, the STEM Award was presented to David Luke in acknowledgement of the science and technology applied to its eco-school uniform, which features recycled polyester garments produced from plastic bottles.
Commenting on the Awards, Forward Ladies managing director Griselda Togobo says, “Many congratulations to our winners and everybody who took part – just getting to the final is a big achievement. Our independent panels of judges were incredibly impressed by the standard of entries, in particular their business acumen, hard work and most importantly – their results. On the launch of our national awards today, we are very excited to be providing a platform for our future regional winners to compete nationally, and for us to showcase the very best women in business. Our partnership with HSBC will enable us to do this on an unprecedented scale, showcasing some positive and credible female role models – a necessary inspiration for our next generation of leaders.”
The Awards programme was launched nationally at last week’s event, with four regional heats taking place in the North West and Isle of Man, London and the South East, Yorkshire and the North East and the Midlands during the rest of 2015. Nominations are now open, with the final award ceremony for regional finalists taking place on 20 November in Leeds.
