Launched last year, Skids, the registered trademark for Shoes for School Ltd, is offering the Back to School market a new choice in school footwear.
Making its show debut at this month's edition of children’s trade fair Bubble London, the UK brand is manufactured in the Philippines, handmade using a high-quality leather upper, a cow-split leather foot bed, breathable textile lining and a rubber sole.
Skids school shoes are the brainchild of ordinary parents, Sadie Schulze and Daniel Jarvis. Following the duo’s search for high-quality leather school shoes without the high-end price tag, their quest led them to satisfy their requirements – along with the requirements of most parents they know – by creating their own footwear brand. Skids shoes (the brand name is inspired by the couple’s son’s habit of skidding about in his school shoes) are handmade and produced in 100 per cent leather.
Targeting 4-11 years, or reception up to Year 6, sizes range from UK size 9 to UK size 6. A wide selection of styles are available, but all put an emphasis on the “look” being smart and stylish while also practical and sturdy. The brand offers a Premium line, wholesaling from £17.50 to £19, and a Standard collection, which wholesales from £15 to £17.50.
Skids will be located on stand GA3 at Bubble London on 12-13 July at the Business Design Centre, Islington.
