Personalised knitwear manufacturer Rowlinson Knitwear (Rowlinson) has been named one of the UK’s Best Workplaces by Great Place to Work in its annual Best Workplaces ranking.

Ranked 23rd in the small organisation category, it is the first time Rowlinson has achieved this honour, which recognises the schoolwear manufacturer as having a high trust engaged workplace culture. The methodology behind the ranking comprised both an employee survey and an audit into the organisation’s management and HR practices.

“Our approach to people management is the driving force behind our ability to attract and retain talent to accelerate our business success,” says Rowlinson Knitwear MD, Donald Moore. “Rowlinson’s culture is built around values of trust, care and be better, and empowering our people. Upholding these values, encouraging everyone to share their opinions and ideas, and creating a happy workplace is the foundation for our Best Workplace culture.”

“As a majority employee-owned business, achieving this recognition is a huge honour and a testament to the hard work of all our people,” adds Nicola Ryan, head of People Services at Rowlinson Knitwear. “It also underlines that Rowlinson’s unique and unwavering focus on putting customer and employee satisfaction before profits delivers sustainable commercial results from a highly engaged and productive employee community.”

Commenting on Rowlinson’s achievement, Great Place to Work CEO Tom O’Byrne, adds, “We are delighted to see Rowlinson Knitwear on our Best Workplaces list this year. It is a validation of the strength of its leadership and its commitment to creating the kind of culture that attracts and retains the best talent and where people have pride in what they do and want to do their best.

“The hallmark of a great workplace like Rowlinson is that its policies and practices are designed around the employee; this employee focus helps attract and retain the talent essential for driving and sustaining competitive performance,” he continues. “It is no coincidence that high trust organisations like Rowlinson also tend to perform better than its peers.”

Established in 1935 and employee-owned company since 2015, Rowlinson manufactures high quality specialist knitwear products for the schoolwear and corporate markets.

The company is committed to caring for its people, reinforced with its Investors in People Gold award, Workplace Wellbeing Charter National award for England, and Best Employer of the Year at The Stockport Business Awards in 2014 and 2015.
