James Southall Ltd, the parent company of Start-rite Shoes Ltd, has announced that Ian Watson will be joining its Board as chief executive.
For the past eight years, Watson has been European managing director of Britax Childcare, based in Ulm, Germany, and has a wide experience of international brands and markets.
Watson's appointment follows the announcement that Peter Lamble is to step down as the company's joint chairman after 20 years. Peter will remain in a key non-executive role on the James Southall Board.
Watson will commence his role at the beginning of February, where he will join Stephen Riley, who joined the board last November as non-executive chairman.
Watson says, “I’m delighted to be joining a business steeped in heritage and with such a premium brand position. I look forward to utilising my expertise to build on the successful work of Peter.”
